Saturday, October 26th, 2024, at 2:37 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Daniel Quinlan, submitted the following information: “Tacoma 2wd stuck in sand barely on the way to the beach / I’m with the vehicle”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 55-mile radius.
We have very few volunteers in this area, which is south of Oregon and almost next to California. After waiting almost an hour, I started looking at the map, and I ended up contacting volunteers who were closed but didn’t respond to the text message.
We found Colton Gufee, who didn’t see the original message but was available to help almost immediately after we contacted him.
Colton sent us a quick note: “I managed to make it to him and recover the vehicle with Ease being my truck outweighed thereby probably 10,000 pounds. Lol. She’s a beast at 14,000.“
By 8:30 p.m., the vehicle was recovered, and the request was closed.
We want to thank Colton for helping. Great job! (offroad recovery in Oregon)
