My son and his buddy got stuck: recovery in Eastern Oregon

Friday, November 1st, 2024, at 7:11 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Eastern Oregon. The requester, Jordan Rosenberry, submitted the following information: “My son and his buddy are camped at the GPS location listed above which is on NF041. They got stuck on Forest Road 2150. 44.34976, -119.35785. They started walking back to camp with no service around 230 pm 11/01. Says the truck slid into the ditch and needs pulled out a few hundred yards. 1/2 ton short bed Chevy. Any body available to help. I am 6 hours away leaving early tomorrow morning. / I’m with the vehicle (dad is Ken who submitted the request)

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within an 80-mile radius.

In this case although we have some local volunteers trying to network, we couldn’t find them help. But we followed up with them, and they were able to find some local help who got them out.

Although in Oregon we haven tons of volunteers, in certain areas, like in the eastern part of the state, we have less coverage of volunteers. If you would like to receive a text message when we get a request near you, create your account here: offroadportal.org/signup
