Toyota Hilux Surf 4×4 diesel is halfway off a cliff

Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at 11:20 a.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in North Carolina. The requester, Austin Boylan , submitted the following information: “1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 4×4 diesel is halfway off a cliff at TopGolf. Snow covered ground conditions. Concrete lot behind vehicle, but covered in snow. Other than broken mirrors, vehicle condition appears to be good. / I’m not with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 20-mile radius.

From the group of volunteers we contacted, we got Matt Evans taking over the recovery. Matt was about 20 miles away from this request.

By 3:00 p.m. the recovery was completed without incidents. We lost contact with Matt for a while, at 1 p.m. he was headed over and two hours later once he closed the request.

We want to thank Matt for such great job.
