Desperate, don’t know what to do

Monday, December 30th, 2025, at 3:29 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Mitchell Cleland, submitted the following information: “I have a 2014 RAM 2500 4×4 stuck in a grass field way off the road. Sunk down to the axles/frame, I have recovery hook options front and rear. It’s been stuck there since Christmas Eve. I just had a buddy come out tonight in another ram 2500 4×4, it hasn’t rained for a while and the cold weather had hardened the ground. He also quickly got stuck and I had to call a third buddy who came out with a JK Rubicon and kinetic rope. He was able to get the other 2500 out but while attempting to pull me out backwards, just as I started to get moving, my front driveshaft broke so I no longer have 4×4. I’ve contacted two local recovery companies who say I’m too far off road and they don’t have ropes/Winches long enough to reach me. Approximately 400-500 feet from solid road maybe. The JK was light enough to stay on top of the soil for the most part but wasn’t heavy enough to pull me out and my front drive shift breaking was really just the cherry on top of this whole endeavor. Desperate, don’t know where to turn or what to do. I wasn’t even intending to go off road. I was distracted by taking a phone call on Christmas Eve and without thinking just wanted to pull further into the field – As I had cars stopping and asking if I needed assistance. Well I didn’t then, I do now. The vehicle is currently unattended in the field and I live close by so I’m at home but can use my wife’s car to get to and from where it’s stuck. / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 5-mile radius.

From the group of contacted volunteers we had Carl Moore, Larry Davis and Mike Beaver taking over the recovery. They team up to work on this recovery.

For Mike this was the first recovery on which he was participating. He was happy to be part of it. We also got photos from Larry and Carl.

From Mike

Here are a few photos that I got! Determination and teamwork, everyone working together and the will to not give up will always be the key to success in my mind!

This couldn’t have came at a better time for me as a week ago, I had a tree land on my house after a windstorm and causing my family and I to spend Christmas at a hotel.  I have been relentlessly fighting insurance all week and this was a great opportunity to get out and clear my head so I greatly appreciated the timing!!!

From Larry

Larry submitted some cool photos too, we share below.

Mitchell, the requester also shared with us a bunch of great photos we share below.

The recovery was completed by 10:44 p.m., and it was a lot of work for our volunteers. We want to express our gratitude to all three volunteers involved: Carl, Larry, and Mike. They did an amazing job.
