Loose rocks uphill offroad recovery in Utah

Loose rocks uphill offroad recovery in Utah

Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 1:49 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Utah. The requester, Jason Anderson, submitted the following information: “Trail name: Dunns Ridge Trail entrance: Highway 89, East of Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Brigham City with a W3W of ///overused.proceed.twin. Vehicle: Polaris Ranger (camo). We went down the hill that looks over Mantua area (West of the Girls Home) and realized we wouldn’t be able to continue down the full trail as most of it was much steeper, as well as overgrown. We were able to turn around and start back up the hill, but the hill had too much loose rock, so we couldn’t keep traction. Our winch was only able to reach a few trees about halfway up, but there weren’t any that were close enough to us that we could finish the climb to the top. Considering that was the only really steep and loose rock trail, I would imagine we could drive out fine if we could get up that one hill. Maybe needed another 200-300 feet of winch rope to reach something useful at the top of the hill. Thanks in advance! / I’m with the vehicle.

Brandon Brooks, one of our general administrators for Offroad Portal, organized this request in Utah. He contacted the contact information, GPS location, and situation before contacting volunteers within a 30-mile radius.
