My vehicle is stuck in wet sand

Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at 8:18 p.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Minnesota. The requester, Dominick Jerome Winge, submitted the following information: “1999 Honda Accord sedan, will require a tow rope and 4 wheel drive truck with good tires. My vehicle is in wet sand but not currently stuck in it and will need to be pulled up a somewhat wet sandy slope for about 15-20 feet. Overall, it’s not too difficult of a job with a long rope. I’m like a mile and a half away. I will take pictures later if need be. / I’m not with the vehicle.”

Our general administrator, David Mrak, organized the request and verified the contact information, location, and situation before sending the request to local volunteers within a 45-mile radius.

Of the group of contacted, within fifteen minutes, two marked themselves as engaging. Christopher Harten and Troy Schultz. By 8:50 p.m., Christopher updated us on our lobby; he made contact with the requester and planned to meet with him in 30 minutes.

At 9:43 p.m., Christopher closed the request; the vehicle was recovered. Chris later shared a quick note and photo on facebook: “This was a very simple recovery. Parking my truck on the top of the hill I used my winch to pull him safely to the road. Sorry no pictures were taken very dark out that night.

This is where the vehicle was stuck. Photo by Chris.

We want to thank all the volunteers who responded, especially those who made the trip to help Dominick. Awesome job guys!
