Really just need a winch, fighting gravity

Friday, December 26th, 2025, at 1:58 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Connecticut. The requester, Eddie Mangini , submitted the following information: “Close to the road, not close to a service road. Really just need a winch, fighting gravity. There’s a flat above Where the truck is and if I get some help I can probably back out / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 45-mile radius.

From the group of volunteers we contacted, Richard Mongeau took charge of the recovery operation. He marked himself as engaged and reached out to the requester, Eddie, to coordinate the process. Richard was approximately 50 miles away from the location. By 6:50 p.m., the recovery was successfully completed and officially closed by Richard.

We want to thank Richard for his great work. He truly saved the day.
