Truck stuck in an icy field

Truck stuck in an icy field

On Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at 8:45 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Indiana. The requester, Michael Gunn, submitted the following information: “2011 f150 4×4 stuck in a field in Ice snow and water. 300-500 yards from a road. A long winch will be need. Truck is still running and driving fine / I’m with the vehicle”.

Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within an 80-mile radius.

In this case, not only did David handle the administration, but he also took care of the request. David and his wife traveled a long distance to help. He sent us some photos and a note to share about this recovery.

From David

We left Northwest Indiana on the way to Tennessee to look at some properties for sale. We stopped along the way to do this recovery. The first picture shows how far from the road he was. My blazer was light enough to drive out to him without sinking. We hooked the winch to him, which dragged the blazer forward a couple feet until the front wheels dug in a little bit, which gave it enough of an anchor to lift the stuck F-150 out of the hole. After that, he was able to drive out to the road under his own power.

We sincerely thank all the volunteers who answered the call, with a special shoutout to David. Not only does he consistently respond to most requests while acting as the general administrator for the entire country, but he also occasionally takes part in the recoveries himself. That’s incredible!
