Saturday, November 30th, 2024, at 6:18 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Pennsylvania. The requester, Jon Gallagher, submitted the following information: “2 vehicles both 4wd with offroad tires stuck in snow, it gets a bit marshy and muddy where we are stuck but isn’t that bad leading up to us. We are in Gouldsboro off of Bender RD and Main ST / I’m with the vehicle“
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 30-mile radius. (offroad recovery in Pennsylvania)
From the group of volunteers we contacted, by 7:30 p.m., Connor Duffy had stepped up, announcing his intention to assist with the request. He wrote: “I’m on the way in a Jeep Liberty with snow chains and a pile of kinetic ropes. We’ll see if that does it.”
By 10:00 p.m., Connor successfully freed them. He later sent us a quick note.
Note from Connor:
“I didn’t get any pictures. It was too dark and cold. Was a soft and slippery spot, the cold helped it harden up a bit, the kinetic rope was a must even with the chains there was little traction.”
“The Toyota came out easy, the Hummer was a lot heavier and was on bald tires so it had to be drug all the way out, a friend showed up in his Sasquatch Bronco we didn’t have tire chains for that but the winch on it helped with the toughest spot when I was starting to sink.”
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Connor for an outstanding job. As always, our volunteers continue to shine and inspire every time!
