Friday, August 30th, 2024, at 6:33 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Colorado. The requester, Alex Pol, submitted the following information: “We are on a trail with coordinates 39.73529, -107.39448. Our vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4, lifted and on mud tires. We are facing a very steep incline, which is typically passable only by well-prepared jeeps. We are concerned that our vehicle might tip over due to its high center of gravity on this incline. / I’m with the vehicle.”
It was late in the afternoon when this request arrived in our system. We reached out to Alex and verified their GPS location and situation before proceeding to submit the request to local volunteers within a 70-mile radius.
The following day in the morning, I reached out to Alex; they had already contacted a towing service who promised to assist. We also had some volunteers lined up, but they did not get help from the paying service as quickly as they could.
By the end of the second day, they were out. We still want to thank all the volunteers who responded to our call. Even though sometimes we don’t end up attending the request, our volunteers diligently put the time to follow the progress of the request until it was closed. Thanks, everybody.
