My daughter rolled off the road

My daughter rolled off the road

Sunday, November 19th, 2023, at 7:25 p.m., we received a request for an offroad recovery in Southern Oregon. The requester, Christopher James Leach, submitted the request and this information: “I was following my daughter on a forest road when she lost control of her vehicle and rolled off the road. A tree stopped it about 15-20 ft below the road on the right past a sharp turn in the road. We left The vehicle at the coordinates above. I’m able to meet someone at the vehicle within a few hours of being notified of help on the way. / I’m with the vehicle“.

We received the request in the evening; we contacted Christopher. immediately back, and decided to work on this recovery early in the morning the following day.

In the morning, I started trying to contact Christopher at 7:50 a.m. We made contact with Christopher at 8:46 a.m. Once we confirmed the situation didn’t change and he still needed help, we submitted the request to local volunteers.

Due to the difficulty of the request, we decided we needed a minimum of two rigs in order to flip the vehicle and pull it up the road again.

We asked volunteers to mark themselves as “standing by” if they could help. Aric Genaw was the first volunteer to become available. Later, Paul Morgan used the invite option on the Lobby to invite Tracker Bain, who also marked himself as “Standing By.”

Once we had Aric and Tracker ready, we asked them to coordinate with Christopher directly to meet and drive over to the area of the incident.

Christopher coordinated with Aric and Tracker; by 1:00 p.m., they were on their way to the location. The recovery was completed by 7:00 p.m.; later, we received some photos and information from Aric.

Aric’s note: “The recovery went well. I was able to use a winch and snatch to roll it over onto its wheels. It took two winches to pull it up the super soft-cut bank. The vehicle ran and drove out to a spot where they could grab it with a dolly.”

We want to thank Aric and Tracker for helping with this complicated offroad recovery in Southern Oregon. We all appreciate your efforts.
