Tuesday, December 05, 2023, at 4:10 p.m. (MT), we received a request for an offroad recovery in Colorado. Wyatt Welling, the requester, submitted the following information: “Bunce school road/Ironclad trail slid halfway off the road with a broken CV axle on a 1992 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed standard cab in maroon / I’m not with the vehicle.“
We immediately contacted Wyatt and scheduled to look for volunteers in the morning the following day. On Wednesday at around 8:20 a.m., we submitted the request to local volunteers, and by 8:59 a.m., we had Andrew Gemmel taking over the recovery. He announced: “I can coordinate 2+ rigs to go out there; we’re planning to meet and leave from Boulder at 11:30 a.m.“
Andrew marked himself as engaging in our lobby app and contacted Wyatt to coordinate. By 8:05 a.m., they planned to get together and attempt to recover and fix the vehicle.
Andrew and two other volunteers traveled with him, and both vehicles worked in tandem winching to bring the GMC back on the trail so that they could repair the broken axle.
Andrew later sent us a bunch of photos and also produced a short clip of the recovery. Thanks, Andrew and the rest of the crew. You guys did an awesome job with this offroad recovery in Colorado.
