Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at 6:59 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Maryland. The requester, Samuel Vincent, submitted the following information: “Audi A3 (RWD) stuck on farm track approximately 700 ft from paved road. Battery may be dead by the time you arrive. / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 35-mile radius.
We reached out to some volunteers, and Jacob Royse was the first one to respond. He jumped into action and got the vehicle out within an hour. He even sent us a quick note after that.
From Jacob
I have no photos because it was pretty dark out. While the recovery was a success it would have been much easier had I brought all my gear. On the phone the guy needed to be helped said it was a little muddy and a slight hill so I didn’t bring traction boards since I have straps and a winch. The boards probably would have been enough to get his car free from the mud, and would have been easier to clean the boards instead of both of my straps.
We want to thank Jacob and all other volunteers who responded to the call for help in this offroad recovery in Maryland.
