A disabled veteran in need of assistance

Thursday, February 20th, 2025, at 9:14 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Colorado. The requester, Joseph Feiccabrino , submitted the following information: “Nisan frontier 4×4 close to 90 degrees in Paul street Cannot get vehicle to move. Tried shoveling. Disabled veteran / I’m with the vehicle”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 35-mile radius.

The car owner tried reaching out to a few towing services, but they didn’t seem to have any luck. Luckily, from the group of volunteers who were contacted, Elliot Pappas and Blais Eisenbrandt jumped into action and teamed up to help Joseph. They were both about an hour away.

At 11:50 p.m. we received an update from Blais, the vehicle was just self recovered on arrival. We later learned a bit more from the requester:

While waiting for USAA to get a toe truck to help, and eventually answering that they could not get a tow truck there and having me contact a company that did not respond to the call, I was working around the truck with a avalanche shovel. Well waiting for the help to arrive I continued to work to try to get the truck to be able to maneuver into a position where it would get freed from the position it was in. It freed about 2 min before the help arrived. I did give them a call but they were already arriving where I was located. I offered to meet them in Georgetown to get them some gas as I only had a debit card. Was told that was not necessary. Met with them and thanked them for coming to help.

We just wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude and admiration for Elliot and Blais. Their hard work and dedication in making this request happen are truly commendable. You two are incredible!
