Friday, March 28th, 2025, at 10:46 a.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Mississippi. The requester, Jeremy , submitted the following information: “I’m in a Chevy 4×4 truck… please help… I was scouting this morning and went down trail I wish I hadn’t🤦🏻 right side is down. I will cover expenses and time I’m in pearl rices wildlife refuge of hwy 43.. call me photos not wanting to load on here.., thanks / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 95-mile radius.
Within seconds of releasing the request we had Chris Brown offering help. He was 20 miles away. 5 minutes after releasing the ticket, Chris was rolling.

We later got some photos from Chris and a quick note we share below.
From Chris:
He tried to self recover with a strap and come-a-long but the strap kept breaking. Out of desperation and no cell service he had to walk a quarter mile to get a signal. He happened across Offroad Recovery and wasn’t sure if it was a real thing or fake. He put the request in and hoped for the best.
I got the message, responded to the system and gave him a call. I got an approximate location and headed that way. I keep my recover gear in the truck at all times so I was ready to go. I was about 45 minutes away but was already heading that way. GPS. Sent me to the back side using the coordinates given but the road was blocked off because of a downed bridge. I called Jeremy once more and the exact details of his entry point.

Once on site, the truck was already sitting on its frame and to make the recovery more delicate there was a large pine tree at his tailgate about 2 feet away.
The plan was to start simple with a snatch rope and try to bump him out. So once I got setup we did just that. I told him to give it very little gas, just to spin the wheels and to fight every urge to spin the tires full blast. It took about 6 small bumps and he was out. I was able to bump him away from the tree as he came out so there was zero damage to either truck. I made sure he got to the main road and we parted ways.
I wanted to also thank Blake Jordan for checking with me several times in case I needed more assistance.
We want to thank Chris for taking care of this offroad recovery in Mississippi and also all other volunteers who offered help and stayed available and ready to jump in case Chris needed extra help. You guys are amazing.
