Monday, March 16th, 2026, at 12:28 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Washington. The requester, Brian Wakeman, submitted the following information: “The 1600 Road Clover Springs, four-wheel-drive, ambulance, camper conversion, stuck in the snow. Slipped and went into a small ditch. / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 30-mile radius.
From the group of contacted volunteers we had Colby Mercer, taking over the request. He was at work until 4 p.m., but at around 4:15 p.m., he mark himself as engaging, and declared on our lobby page he was ready to head out. Colby was about 70 miles away.
He kept us updated throughout this recovery, letting us know when he arrived, what situation he found and the progress of the request itself. The request was completed by 10:30 p.m.

Although we didn’t receive much more information about this request, we knew from his lobby messages that by 8:40 p.m., he had managed to get the vehicle free. However, it took a considerable amount of time to return to solid ground.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to Colby. As always, we are incredibly thankful to have volunteers who consistently deliver exceptional results. Their dedication and hard work are truly commendable.
