Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, at 0:30 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in California. The requester, Joseph Howarth, submitted the following information: “Chevy Z71 2016 yes it is four wheel drive it’s not damaged it’s just stuck back wheel is off the road behind the seven oaks dam the road is damaged due to fire and there is dirt blocking road / I’m not with the vehicle“
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 15-mile radius.
This vehicle was located in an area closed to the public, and the request for assistance was submitted late at night. We worked to find volunteers for the following morning.
From the group of volunteers, James Bardaro took the lead on the request, reaching out to the local ranger to obtain permission for the recovery operation.
James successfully organized a team of volunteers, and after receiving the green light from authorities the following morning, the recovery was carried out on the 29th.
By 11:40 a.m., the vehicle recovery was completed.
