Monday, August 4th, 2025, at 5:32 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Washington. The requester, Stacie Sharp , submitted the following information: “2017 Dodge Grand Caravan stuck in sand / I’m with the vehicle”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 50-mile radius.
Out of the volunteers we contacted, Colby Mercer took over the request. He was approximately an hour away, driving around 35 miles to reach Stacie’s location. The request was completed by 6:17 p.m. A few days later, Colby sent us a quick note.

From Colby
Arrived at the recovery and found a minivan with the front wheels buried in the sand. The recovered party explained that several other people offered to help but were unable to figure out how to connect a rope for the pull. I hooked up to the rear A-arm with soft shackle and kinetic. Pulled the vehicle out of the ruts. Then connected in the same way to the front A-arm. Wrapped the rope under my axle. This brought the rope pull point lower to prevent from damaging the front bumper. This pull was about an 1/8 mile back to the pavement. The recovered party was good to go. During the recovery, 40 mph wind gusts and blowing sand were an unwelcome challenge. No photos.
We want to thank Colby for helping with this recovery. Great job!
