Sunday, September 8th, 2024, at 8:06 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Utah. The requester, Michael Smith, submitted the following information: “I was off-roading in a new area and relying on an off-roading map. The map told me to go a specific way and I followed it’s instructions. The road quickly narrowed down to singletrack, and I got stuck between some trees. There isn’t very easy road access to where I am at right now. I was able to get off the mountain, but the vehicle, a red 2008 Jeep Wrangler, is still on the mountain at the coordinates listed above. / I’m with the vehicle“
We verified the contact information, situation, and GPS location before submitting the request to local volunteers within a 30-mile radius.
Our admin for the region, Brett Davis, had already started communicating with the requester. They were waiting for approval before entering the area since it seemed to be a closed area. (Utah Off Road Recovery Team)
The request was left open for the following day, and Brett kept coordinating with the requester. Michael managed to go to the Jeep and was able to move the vehicle back toward the road, but he later got it out by himself.(offroad recovery in Utah)
We still want to thank all the volunteers involved. You guys are amazing.
