Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, at 5:28 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Kentucky. The requester, Andrea Rickord, submitted the following information: “My husband is stuck in the mud on the trail. All I have is coordinates and I am in ohio. He has very poor cell service and I am only getting intermittent responses from him. His name is Scott rickord. He had a 2022 Honda crf 300l rally. he has no cell service. I got an sos with his coordinates on his satellite thing and one text saying he was safe just stuck in the mud. That he doesn’t need a tow just a tow strap. You can call me for any more info I can help with! Thank you!!! / I’m with the vehicle“
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within an 85-mile radius.
We stayed in communication with the requester’s wife, Andrea, for a few hours. Through one of our volunteers, we also tried to find somebody from the local fire department to help; the requester was also a firefighter. His wife was also trying to find him help, and finally we found a local volunteer who was able to go lend a hand.
