Nissan stranded up on the old NC 105 trail

Sunday, March 26th, 2023, at 10:25 a.m., a recovery request from North Carolina. Zach Gillispie send us the following request: “I’ve got a 2017 Nissan Titan Pro4X 4wd stranded up on the old NC 105 trail. I believe the alternator has died, so the truck isn’t running. I need it towed back to the parking area at the beginning of the trail ASAP so a tow truck can pick it up. Gravel trail is relatively easy (one steep section) and in good condition (for example, my friend picked me up in his Corolla). I will be making my way back when I know help is on the way to assist in any way I can. / I’m with the vehicle

Our local administrator, Brandon Brooks handled the request. By 11:23 a.m. the post was sent to local volunteers. By 1:29 p.m., Austin Chandler offered to help, he was about two hours away.

The request was closed at 6:21 p.m. Austin later sent us a quick note and some photos:After trying every company in the area, I hooked to him and pulled him about 5 miles out of Linville falls to where a tow truck could get to him. Made it out safely without any incidents. I used my 95′ F250 4×4 460bb 5 speed on 37s with a 30′ recovery strap doubled up. He steered and braked the vehicle, and all was well! His key wouldn’t communicate with the vehicle properly or possibly a throttle position sensor or throttle body issue, I hooked my scanner to it to see if it showed any codes, and that was what it was showing.

Thanks for helping Austin.
