Rear end is stuck in a crevice

Sunday, March 23rd, 2025, at 2:48 a.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Idaho. The requester, Stanley Scruggs, submitted the following information: “Black 2007 gmc sierra 2500 HD. Rear end is stuck in a crevice. About 150 ft off the road. There’s no cell service there so I’m not with the vehicle. Can meet at a public place and take you there. It does have 4×4. I have keys in my pocket. Truck has a 6 inch lift. It has 4 doors. / I’m not with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 10-mile radius.

From the group of volunteers contacted, we had Stephen Service taking over the request. By 5:00 p.m. he marked himself as engaging when he started to head toward the vehicle stuck.

The initial attempt was unsuccessful, Stephen explained they tried to pull the vehicle but due to the angle and the conditions of the ground, the vehicle was getting stuck farther instead of moving up.

The initial recovery didn’t work, we paused the search for help until we hear back from Stanley. He finally had an alternative resource to recovery the vehicle.

We still want to thank Stephen for taking the time to try and help with this offroad recovery in Idaho.
