Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 7:09 a.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Ohio. The requester, Brandon Ward, submitted the following information: “2016 4runner, in mud with a hard rut In the middle, don’t think it’s on the frame but I do not want to dig it in more / I’m with the vehicle.”
David Mrak, our general administrator, organized the request, contacted the requester, and verified the GPS location and situation before sending the request to local volunteers within an 80-mile radius.
Our volunteers were pretty far away from the request, but just an hour after the call went out, we got a bunch of volunteers responding. We even got Bob Brinkman offering to help later in the afternoon after work.
Luckily the requester, Brandon, by 11:15 a.m., was able to free himself.
