Friday, March 8th, 2024, at 8:22 p.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Texas. The requester, Patrick Harris, submitted the following information: “Help! I am stuck in the mud. What looked like grass and just soft ground at first turned an afternoon kayak trip into a disaster. My two wheel drive 2001 chevy suburban with my kayak and all my gear has its back wheels stuck up to the axle nearly in mud. Front wheels are on decent grass but soggy ground. Kayak is on top of the vehicle. I need a wench or a pull just a few feet to solid ground. / I’m with the vehicle.”
Our administrator, David Mrak, organized the request, contacted Patrick, and verified the location and situation before sharing the recovery with volunteers.
By 9:00 a.m., two volunteers offered to help, Rebecca Sparks and James Vandelinde. The first to arrive, James took care of the request. Once he got Patrick out, he announced in the lobby that he got him out while trying to save an unnecessary trip for the other volunteers.
We appreciate James‘ help and Rebecca for actually taking the time to drive there. You guys are amazing. Thank you. (offroad recovery in Texas)
