Thursday, July 18th, 2024, at 7:01 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Drew Hayes, submitted the following information: “Sand Dunes Road, Chevy Suburban, 4×4, not damaged, sandy. We are stuck in the sand on the beach over the sandy hill off of Sand Dunes Road. Very close to water. / I’m with the vehicle.”
After receiving the request, we contacted Drew, and within minutes, we got the GPS location verified, updated the ticket with current information, and submitted the request to local volunteers within a 15-mile radius.
Just 3 minutes after submitting the request to local volunteers, we got Douglas Smith offering to help, he was getting ready to contact the volunteer, when Drew reached out to let us know he managed to get free himself.
We don’t always get the satisfaction of completing the recoveries we received, but we still want to thank Douglas for such a fast response and for his willingness to help. (offroad recovery in Oregon)
