Sunday, February 04, 2024, at 4:41 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Conor Holman, submitted the following information: “Wrangler Rubicon stuck in snow / I’m not with the vehicle.”
The request was handled by Myrian, one of the general administrators of our system. Myrian reached out to Conor, verified the location, and submitted the request to local volunteers.
By 4:52 p.m., the ticket was ready, and by 5:04 p.m., we had Biff Sessner taking over the request. After the coordinates were re-verified by the requester, the distance from Biff to Conor was about 55 miles.
The requester left the vehicle and was in Eugene. So, the recovery was set for the following morning. In the morning, at 10:40 a.m., Biff updated our chatroom to let us know he had picked up Conor and they were headed to perform the recovery.
By 2:40 p.m., the request was closed, Biff had done the recovery, and they were back down. He later sent us a quick note and some photos.
Thanks, Biff; we appreciate your help! (offroad recovery in Oregon)
Note from Biff: “The weather was about 35*, and there was a slight mist. He only had about 120′ to go; he almost made it to gravel. He just could not get back to the ruts because of the previous Ice storm…Easy winch pull. Note: He did have friends with him. They had a tow rope, but it snapped.”
