Friday, July 26th, 2024, at 9:54 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in California. The requester, Connie Adams, submitted the following information: “Stuck in soft sand in Riverbed in Helendale, California. Blue Chevy long bed pickup / I’m with the vehicle.”
This request was received pretty late at night. We contacted Connie and verified her GPS location and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers within a 20-mile radius.
Within minutes of sending the text message to volunteers, we had a few actively requesting more information. No more than 5 minutes after submitting the request, Jesse Shedden marked himself as engaging, and a few minutes later, so did Laura Mckenzie. They were both a few miles away.
The recovery was finished by 11:24 p.m., and Connie had her vehicle recovered.
