Stuck in the riverbed

Stuck in the riverbed

Monday, April 20th, 2026, at 4:28 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, John Deleon, submitted the following information: “truck works fine- just stuck in the riverbed, broken winch- driver ok. Not super stuck, just another 4×4 to help preferably with a winch and/or pull rope.. Off williamson road best access is probably Jackson Creek Forrest Camp. Communicating via Garmin Inreach / I’m with the vehicle”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 45-mile radius.

In this request, from the group of contacted volunteers we had Tyler Otterson who became available around 9:00 p.m. After verifying all the information, Tyler marked himself as engaging and started driving toward the requester. He was about one hour out. In this case, just a few minutes before Tyler arrived, the wife, who was the only one in communication with the husband stuck, confirmed a passerby got him out. So she contacted Tyler to let him know. We verified all the new information and closed this request.

We still want to thank Tyler, who drove the distance. Volunteers like Tyler are making the difference. Thank you.
