Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at 4:18 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with a recovery in Hood River, Oregon. The requester, Joy Julian, submitted the following information: “no damage, snow in driveway isn’t bad. But last night, I slid down the driveway and got stuck in mud. I’m new to snow and should have known better. I think it would take a minute to pull the car back onto the driveway. I would be so grateful if you can help – I have AAA and called tow companies and I’m afraid they are too busy. / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 5-mile radius.
Just 5 minutes after the request was sent to local volunteers, we had two amazing volunteers teaming up to help Joy. From the group of contacted volunteers we had Tad Johnston and Teunis Wyers heading toward the request immediately.

The request was completed in just 30 minutes. Teunis shared the following note and a few photos on our lobby.
From Teunis:
Forgot to take a before picture but Tad Johnston was there for the assist! Her tow point screw was the wrong size (used car) so we had to hook to a wheel and drag her in park to keep the shackle from catching the brake caliper. Took just a little bump on the Yankum rope! First time I’ve used it.

We want to thank both, Teunis and Tad, as always you guys are amazing.
