Friday, August 8th, 2025, at 11:45 a.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Ohio. The requester, David Rubin, submitted the following information: “Off of 595 and Buckeye trail, 2012 VW Jetta Diesel, stuck in mud. Took a hill that was too steep, and the mud+ hill make it so that im stuck / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 55-mile radius.
From the group of local contacted volunteers we had Troy Smith marking himself as engaging and taking over the recovery. By 2:00 p.m. the request was marked completed. Troy who initially was one hour out, declared everything went well. He used his winch to get the vehicle right back out without any trouble.
We want to thank Troy who travel over 100 miles to help with this request. Thats awesome.
