Monday, June 3rd, 2024, at 3:02 p.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Alabama. The requester, Kindall Brown, submitted the following information: “My mom and I are working in the Choctaw Wildlife Refuge, and we got stuck in a storm. The roads are flooded and we are sliding back and forth between the ditches in the road. There is no traction because of the clay/mud, and it’s uphill to get out / Jeep Cherokee / I’m with the vehicle.“
We verified the contact information, GPS location, and situation before submitting the request to local volunteers within a 105-mile radius. We have very few volunteers in this area.
Regardless of the rather small number of volunteers, we had several volunteers offering to drive the distance to help. Luckily, Kindall found a local towing company that had a friend with an offroad vehicle happy to help.
The helper, Ricky Hearn, took care of the request, and by 5:30 p.m., they were out.
I want to thank all the local volunteers who responded to the call and offered help, and especially Ricky, who went the extra mile to take care of this. Awesome. (offroad recovery in Alabama)
