Friday, January 19th, 2024, at 4:52 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Maryland, near Green Valley. The request was handled by our general administrator, David Mrak. Samuel Vincent, the requester submitted the following information: “Rivian R1S AWD stuck off-road in the snow on a farm on the Frederick-Montgomery County line. See attached map. I’m at the blue dot. The easiest way to get to me is to go to the red dot, where you’ll see my tire tracks go off-road. / I’m with the vehicle.”
David contacted the requester, verified his location, and passed the request to local volunteers within 5 minutes of receiving it.
Samuel, the requester, was invited to our lobby to help coordinate the recovery. He offered to cover gas for anybody assisting.
A bunch of volunteers offered help, but the following morning, one volunteer, Cory Winterton, took over the request.
He later closed the ticket and sent us this quick note: “Hey everyone. Yea I drove out there this morning and we got him out. Just a quick reminder that sometimes the easiest things we forget about are the answer. I walked down to his vehicle this morning and aired his tires down. He was able to crawl it out, no tire slipping no drama. It’s an easy thing to forget but it helps a ton especially in the snow.“
We don’t have any photos of the recovery or from the requester.
We appreciate the help from Cory, awesome job.
