Monday, March 18th, 2024, at 10:34 a.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Pie Town, New Mexico. The requester, Lucas Mccamy, submitted the following information: “Requesting off road recovery. Have been stranded in Pie town new Mexico for 2 days. Stuck in the mud. Will send location. Good sam dispatched a tow truck from Quemedo J&Y auto service and they notified me they can’t come pull me out until the mud dries which will be 2 or more weeks. 24 foot RV, 12,500lb gross weight. Has anchor points to pull out on rear bumper. Please keep my identity anonymous if possible. License plate name etc on the public website. Picture and location to follow / I’m with the vehicle.“
We verified the contact information, location and current situation and submitted the request to local volunteers. At the time we didn’t know Lucas had also requested a towing company’s help.
From our requesters we had Kate Davis, who was headed to another recovery, but offered to help afterwards. By the time Kate finished the first request, she contacted Lucas, and started heading over.
The first tow attempt was canceled due to lack of traction. So Kate on her way to Lucas found another vehicle stuck, a UPS truck. Once that was taken care, she contact Lucas again and learned a second tow truck was brave enough to get to the RV and was able to recover the vehicle.
We still want to thank Kate for her help.
