Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at 7:35 a.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Texas. The requester, Joel Kanatt, submitted the following information: “In a mountain bike area on Thompson Ferry Rd. The car is slightly beached in, but the tires are not dug inside. It is a 2018 Toyota 4Runner. / I’m not with the vehicle.“
David Mrak handled the request, contacted the requester, and verified the GPS location and situation before submitting it to volunteers within a 25-mile radius.
The vehicle was left behind the night before; he was not on a bike trail but rather near a bike trail area. We had the request open for around 2 hours and had a few volunteers responding to the call. But before we could find somebody to assist, Joel got a local person with a tractor who was able to pull him up.
