Unsure about making it down the route

Unsure about making it down the route

Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 10:05 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in California. The requester, Alex Csak, submitted the following information: “2020 Jeep wrangler. In a precarious position on south crater spurs in Death Valley. Not stuck but, but unsure about making it down the route I’m on safely. My friend is requesting some help through his Garmin, I am not with the vehicle but he and his wife are. They are experienced off roaders. The 219 number I listed is mine and the secondary is his Garmin. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer! / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 110-mile radius.

From the group of contacted volunteers we had Timothy Katsopoulos taking over the recovery even though he was 75 miles away.

Because this request was submitted in an area with low cell signal, we didn’t get any photos. The request was completed without any incidents by 6:00 p.m.

One tip from Timothy

My tip is don’t use Gaia in the dark.,.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to Timothy for going the extra mile to assist in this recovery. Your efforts are truly commendable and greatly appreciated.
