It went straight into the ditch

Saturday, April 11st, 2026, at 10:49 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in California. The requester, Jonathan Marquez , submitted the following information: “canam x3 2 seater. vehicle isn’t rolled over just went straight into the ditch , it’s about 80-100ft down . / I’m not with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”

Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 55-mile radius.

From the group of contacted volunteers in this area, we had Elan Moyal taking over the recovery. He later sent us a note and some photos we share down below. During the recovery, in our notes we have this from Elan: “I talked to the guy with a couple jeeps. He also has a Tacoma. He’s driving to Redding today, but he can back us up tonight with all three vehicles if we’re still struggling. My only hang up now is whether we need the key and where the key is. Jonathan isn’t replying. He’s apparently 4 hours away so I assume that’s San Jose. He told me that he wasn’t even there, he doesn’t off-road or anything. This was his brother’s accident who’s in the hospital right now. Jonathan’s just trying to get the CanAm back to his brother for him.”

From Elan

Jeffery Hannah responded from Wheatland, CA. He discovered the rain had washed the side by side down into the river. He was able to get it back up and tow it back.

We want to thank Elan and also Jefrey for taking of this recovery. Awesome job.
