Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Victory Rose, submitted the following information: “AAA won’t come out. I’m on/off a cinder road where the road gave out but it’s packed. Back end slid off where road gave out. Need to be pulled back up on packed road I have pics. And video. Forestry? Cut bushes and made easier to get to & out. A reg truck wheele base can get too., heavy equipment not so much. A boom with about 5 towstraps? Or strong Wench? Maybe 2 reg 4x4s? Easy to get to 4 4×4 and even a reg. But NOT to pull me out? I’m disabled and have seriouse health issues YOUR HELP & SUPPORT IS SO GREATLY NEEDED from this old lady & so much appreciated. I have no one else. Thank you 4 considering 😘 / I’m not with the vehicle“
Immediately after receiving the request, we started working with Victory, the owner, to verify the GPS location and situation of the vehicle. Once everything was checked out, we submitted the request to local volunteers within a 15-mile radius. The vehicle was left there 2 weeks before during the fire evacuation they experienced.
No more than 10 minutes after the request was active, we had Dayten Mooneyham and Sterling Crosson taking over the recovery. By 10 a.m., Dayten decided to drive to the vehicle just to take a look.
By 11:00 a.m., Sterling was on his way to pickup VIctory to go meet with Dayten to perform the recovery.
Dayten updated us in the lobby: “Absolutely, I’m here now and Sterling is on his way with the vehicle owner. I have 2 options on getting the vehicle out and don’t predict any trouble.“
By 2:30 p.m., the vehicle was out, the request was completed, and Dayten shared a quick photo. Victory also sent a few photos; she was very appreciative of the volunteers and our service. (offroad recovery in Oregon)
We want to thank our volunteers, Dayten and Sterling. You guys are amazing.
