Rick Cooper, our recovery administrator for Offroad Portal in Arizona, is organizing this event at the Bumble Bee Ranch to meet with other local volunteers from the state.
When?: May 17th through 19th.
Come join us for the first annual Recovery Portal Meet-n-Greet at the Bumble Bee Ranch located just north of Black Canyon City, AZ. Any member, and family member of the Recovery Portal is welcome. Encourage your 4×4 friends to join the team and come along to the event.
Come and meet fellow Offroad Recovery Portal volunteers. This event is during the same time that Overland Expo West is going on. Creates an opportunity to join in on both events. Flagstaff is only 1 1/2 hours away.
Follow the link for details about registration and what is available for you at the Bumble Bee Ranch just north of Black Canyon City, AZ . There will a guided trail run on Saturday on the famous “Turkey Creek Trail” and possibly a guided night trail run after dinner Saturday night.
You have the option to arrive on Friday and stay until Sunday, or just for the day on Saturday (or any combination). There is dry camping, RV sites, several cabins are open to book, along with an actual ranch house. Just depends on your family’s needs. There is also BLM lands, and Arizona State Trust land adjoining parts of the ranch (permit required) where one could camp as well.
This area has miles and miles of fantastic trails to explore. I am trying to coordinate a poker run for the Saturday trail run. Custom T-shirts are available for purchase and 20 percent of the T-shirt sales will go directly to the Recovery Portal.
These need to be ordered ahead of time so you can get them when you get to the event. Meals can be provided by the BBR at an additional cost. Cooking at your camp is also permitted. The dinner for Saturday is the only required meal that they’ll prepare. I’ve been to one of their events, and I promise that you won’t leave hungry.
