Jeep close to rolling over

Jeep close to rolling over

Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at 11:12 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in California. The requester, Matthew Summers, submitted the following information: “Was coming up the slide and had the jeep get sideways, no good area to winch to. The vehicle is currently stable and on all four wheels, but for sure, it is close to rolling over. / I’m with the vehicle.

After receiving this request, we contacted Matthew and verified his situation and GSP location. Once everything checked out, we submitted the request to local volunteers within a 40-mile radius.

Within the first 2 minutes of sending the request to local volunteers, we had Christopher Pachall taking over the request, marking himself as engaging and contacting Matthew to coordinate.

Christopher was about 30-45 minutes out. He loaded up his truck and headed over to meet with Matthew. By 2:30 p.m., he updated us on the lobby. He arrived, and one hour later, he closed the request and declared the vehicle was recovered.

He later sent us a few photos, a short video, and a quick note.

From Christopher

Jeep had slid over the edge of the road, the owner had set the brake and attached his winch line to the nearest bushes last night.

I had to recover from above and from the side off of a steep trail section.  We left his winch attached, and I attached it to two points on the side of the Jeep frame. We also used a pulley to double the pulling power.  We used my winch to get 3 of 4 tires back on the trail.  Then we attached his winch to the front of my truck, using both winches and the Jeep in 4Low, and we finished getting him back on the trail.

We want to thank Christopher for such a quick response and awesome job. Good work! (offroad recovery in California)
