I’m stuck in pluff mud

I’m stuck in pluff mud

Sunday, March 3rd, 2024, at 6:12 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in South Carolina. The requester, Xander Ely, submitted the following information: “2004 Chevy Tahoe, 4 x 4, stuck in pluff mud. Was creeping around an area I knew could potentially be too soft and just dropped in the mud seemed like I was still moving at first and then my front wheels quit spinning. I believe my 4 x 4 is dead area coming in is pretty soft, but I had no problem getting there And had a friend with a truck come out and he had no issues either. I think it needs to be winched out or snatched because it has sink so deep. I don’t know how high the tide raises in this area, but it is a concern. High tide will be about 1 AM I believe. / I’m with the vehicle.”

After verifying the contact information, GPS location, and situation, the ticket was submitted to local volunteers within a 75-mile radius.

Of the 12 volunteers invited, 12 responded to our text message and jumped into the lobby. From the bunch, one took over the recovery: Jeff Crompton.

The recovery took a few hours, but by 10:13 p.m., Jeff closed it and updated us in the lobby.

He later sent us some photos and details.

Jeff’s note:

This was a challenging recovery the Tahoe was buried to the frame even with a 13k lb winch it took multiple pull angles to recover. I used my wrangler ecodiesel to recover it.

We appreciate Jeff’s help, awesome job! (offroad recovery in South Carolina)
