Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, at 4:19 p.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Texas. The requester, Josh Tidwell, submitted the following information: “Stuck off-roading need an estimate on what I will cost to pull my truck out of this trail 31.43011° N, 96.59625° W / I’m with the vehicle”
Side note: We don’t charge for recoveries.
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 70-mile radius.

From the group of contacted volunteers we had Matt Barutha taking over the recovery, he later closed the request at around 7:30 p.m. Matt had to wait about an hour for the owner to showed up. Matt a few days later sent us a short clip we share below. He also shared the following: “This was an easy pull way off the road, though the vehicle was back in a wooded and very soft, low-lying area. My CUCV didn’t even spin while pulling it out, but I was concerned about liquefaction while my truck idled during rigging.”
Thanks Matt for your help. Excellent job!
