Saturday, July 20th, 2024, at 4:17 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Montana. The requester, Aaron P, submitted the following information: “I have a 2014 Toyota Sienna AWD on oversized Falken Wildpeak tires. It’s stuck, sandwiched in a rut, about a quarter mile past the Ross Pass trailhead on FS 631. As far as I can tell there is no mechanical issue, just the front bumper coming detached on the passenger side. It’s dug in on the passenger side but there looks to be plenty of solid ground on the driver side. Slightly land locked in back but I’ve been able to get forward and back movement. I was brought to downtown bozeman for service, not with vehicle. Road heading in is pretty smooth and wide until the last quarter mile or so which has overgrowth and ruts. GPS approximate, I entered near south fork brackett creek. / I’m not with the vehicle“
Our administrator, David Mrak, organized the request, contacted the requester, and verified the GPS location and situation before sending it to local volunteers within a 15-mile radius.
Within a minute of submitting the request to volunteers, we had Dylan Baker taking over the request, marking himself as engaging and contacting Aaron to coordinate. We also had Andreas Ponti offering to be a backup in case it was needed.
David invited the requester over to our lobby to ease the coordination; by 9:00 p.m., the request was closed. Aaron, the requester, updated the lobby. Dylan had finished the recovery, and the request was closed.
We haven’t received any photos or notes about this recovery from Dylan yet.
We want to thank Dylan for such a quick response and awesome job. ( offroad recovery in Montana)
