We’re stuck in our own driveway

On Tuesday, December 31st, 2024, at 12:51 p.m. (PT), we received a request for assistance with an offroad recovery near Sprague River, Oregon. Crystal Jones reached out with the following message: “We’re stuck in our own driveway. We’ve been trying to get out for a week now, and we’re completely out of propane. I’m with the vehicle.”

Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 30-mile radius.

From the group of volunteers contacted, we had Chris George, Ethan Merron, and Matt Spencer taking over the request.

At around 6:40 p.m., Matt was the first to arrive, followed by Ethan. Meanwhile, Chris began driving toward the scene, though he was still 90 minutes away.

Details on the recovery were sparse, but by 10:00 p.m., Matt reported that they were using a secondary rig as an anchor, and the vehicle being recovered had a dead battery.

By 10:50 p.m., Chris closed the request and confirmed that all vehicles were leaving the scene.

We want to thank all three volunteers involved. You guys did an amazing job.
