Stuck in the snow for four hours

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024, at 1:40 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon near Idanha. The requester, Tara Knight, submitted the following information: “We’ve been stuck on Forestry road FS 800 for like 4 hours now for the last 2 and 1/2 hours. We have tried digging ourselves out with no luck, we’ve let air out of the tires with no luck. We have tried putting stones under the tires to get traction. We are in a ford f two fifty white truck in deep snow. We are absolutely stuck. We have a quarter taken gas slept and we’ve exhausted all options in terms of getting unstuck to get back home. And we’re not really sure what to do. And cell phone signal is very iffy. / I’m not with the vehicle.

The request was sent at 1:40 a.m.; we first saw the request at 4:29 a.m. and immediately reached out to Tara. It took her two more hours to get back to us. By 7:00 a.m., we had her location confirmed, and we got some photos as well. We also suggested trying to deflate the tires, but they had already tried that.

We submitted the request to local volunteers, by 8:14 a.m., we had Levi Child taking over the recovery. He was 90 minutes out. We informed the requester accordingly and they were pleased to hear they had help on the way. By 11:08 a.m., Levi closed the request and later sent us some photos and a brief note. (offroad recovery in Oregon).

Levi’s Note:

We got a mile away from recovery point and stopped to air down to 5 psi to get passed slushy snow. We showed up to the f-250.we wenched him out about 500ft. We drove backwards down hill for about a mile. Till we could turn around safely. Overall a successful recovery. Took about an hour to complete after showing up on site.

Thank you, Levi. Awesome job!
