Truck off the road, sliding down into a creek

Saturday, February 10th 2024, at 8:50 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Jason Dodson , submitted the following information: “2017 ram 1500 4×4 quad cab. Off the road, sliding down into a creek. 10 to 15 miles from highway / I’m not with the vehicle.”

We verified the location and contact information and gathered a few photos. The request came at night, and the requester asked for the recovery in the morning. We submitted the request to local volunteers and asked for help in the morning.

By 9:15 p.m., we had Marc Estep, a very active local volunteer, taking over the request, contacting Jason, and coordinating to perform the recovery by 8:00 a.m.

By 11:30 a.m., Marc announced in our lobby he had the vehicle recovered. He later sent us a quick note: “Anchored rear of pickup to a Boulder. Winched front up the hill using a block connected to a tree across the road.

As always, we appreciate Marc’s help; he is an amazing volunteer. (Offroad recovery in Oregon, Oregon 4×4 rescue)
