Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, at 11:14 p.m. (MT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Colorado. The requester, Max Rubenstein, submitted the following information: “Ground is muddy. Toyota Tacoma 2023. I am stuck right off one of the branch trails. Been stuck for hours and need to get home! / I’m with the vehicle.”
We contacted Max and verified the contact information, location, and current situation. Once everything checked out, we released the request to local volunteers. We had enough volunteers in this area and only contacted those within a 20-mile radius. By 11:26 p.m., the request was active.
Within 5 minutes, we had Curt Boyll taking over the recovery, and a few minutes later, Blais Eisenbrandt joined the efforts.
This request arrived very late, and the volunteers had a hard time finding the vehicle. By midnight, Blais updated us that they got the vehicle out using snatch blocks and winching.
A few days later, Curt shared the following:
We were very fortunate in finding the vehicle, at night in snow and with all of the turns and branches off the roads and trails. Blaise and I arrived right together and it was obvious within minutes how to set up our winch ropes. One tip to always remember is take your recovery vehicle out of gear/out of park and use your parking brake. The stranded driver was very cooperative, and did not spin his wheels at all in assisting his extraction. I’m surprised anyone was able and willing to do this mountain/snow recovery at 11 PM in the evening! 🙂 Thanks for your help, Al.”
We also received a few cool photos from Blais, see below.
We want to thank Curt and Blais, for helping with this request so late at night. Awesome job!. (offroad recovery in Colorado)
