Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in California. The requester, Michael Anthony Rodriguez, submitted the following information: “2017 tahoe battery died when trying to winch myself out of the loose sand in the Wash / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 20-mile radius.
From the group of contacted volunteers after a few hours we got Christian Hernandez marking himself as engaging and reaching to Michael in the afternoon to coordinate. The vehicle was freed around 5:00 p.m. He later sent us a quick note.

From Christian
Requester was friendly.the recovery included soft sand and vehicle was down to the frame. After a few tugs in reverse we were able to drive the vehicle to the main road. Vehicle was experiencing problems including not engaging 4×4. Also provided gas as requested.
We want to thank Christian for an awesome job.
