Sunday, March 30th, 2025, at 8:51 p.m. (CT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Alabama. The requester, David Steinberg, submitted the following information: “Just got my dually stuck in some mud in the field didn’t realize it was that soft but about a hundred yards from any solid surface. Could likely be winched out easily by someone with mud tires / I’m with the vehicle / I can help cover the cost of fuel.”
Our administrator, David Mrak, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 25-mile radius.
From the group of contacted volunteers we got Joshua Horton taking over the recovery. No more than one hour later the request was closed. Joshua was able to get the vehicle back to dry land.
Joshua later sent us a quick note: “Truck stuck was a SRAM 3500. He was stuck in his field behind his house. Pulled him out with my gladiator using my Badlands Apex 12,000 pound winch. Winched him forward about 40 feet and he was able to drive out the rest of the way. Unfortunately, there was very little light except from the trucks so could not get pictures.”
We want to thank Joshua for an amazing job. Also all other volunteers who responded to our call. Good job.
