Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at 3:14 p.m. (PT), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Oregon. The requester, Cooper Glass, submitted the following information: “Ford f-150, stuck in deep mud and water. Pull hooks on front and back. / I’m with the vehicle”
Our administrator, Al Fontan, contacted the requester and verified the contact information provided, GPS location, and current situation before sending the request to local volunteers. In this particular recovery, we contacted volunteers within a 15-mile radius.
As soon as we sent out the request to local volunteers, Shane Bails was already jumping into action! After a quick chat, Shane took over the request. Plus, we invited Cooper, the requester, to our lobby so we could all coordinate more smoothly. We also had John Lepley helping in this request and joining efforts with Shane.

A few days later we received some notes from Shane we share below.
From Shane
It had been sitting in the water for a good 10 to 12 hours. So sucked into the mud. I tried pulling from the front, but it just wanted to drag me into the water, so we went from the back with a few well placed spots to get it moving. We were able to get it to a point to pull onto a dry trail and back to the main road. His Buddies are getting a tow dolly and taking it home. It has water lines to more than the front fender lines and almost the same on the back. Used tow straps and soft shackles, then my Yankum rope. Made easy work. Got almost back on the road and a few others showed up.

I should have brought my snatch ring, but couldn’t find it. That way with 2 of those would have gotten better pull strength.
Over all good time, helping locals, and it was a success.
We want to thank John and Shane for helping on this recovery. You guys are amazing.
