Ford Transit 350 stuck

Ford Transit 350 stuck

Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, at 8:27 p.m. (ET), we received a request for help with an offroad recovery in Georgia. The requester, Mike Mundy, submitted the following information: “On the way to Rood Creek Campground Near Omaha Georgia 2XG7+6G, Omaha, GA 31821. We came in off of county 27 On California Woods Rd, probably about 5.3 miles in from the pavement. Vehicle: Ford Transit 350 / About 10,000 pounds. Road condition: rough, wet clay at the stuck location. Thank you! / I’m with the vehicle”

After verifying the information submitted, including the GPS coordinates and situation, we submitted the request to local volunteers within a 65-mile radius.

During the first hour, we had a few volunteers discussing and asking questions in our chatroom. By 9:30 p.m., Garret Jones marked himself as engaging, contacted the requester, and got busy right away.

This was a tough recovery and also a hard place to find the correct access. Garret was able to finish the recovery around 2:30 a.m.

Garret sent us some photos and a quick note:

The gentlemen stuck were in a Ford Transit, down California woods rd.  Omaha GA. They were on private property, which was admittedly hard to tell since the signs were in the woods, and it was unclear if the road was an easement or not.

Takeaways; If anyone does a recovery in this area, do not take shortcuts. There are several gated off trails and private property trails.

Transits have no hookup points / tow points on the front. Be careful not to rip off the plastic bumper if you attach to the control arm.

These gentlemen stated they had recovered last week in Florida’s sugar sand. Clearly they did not learn their lesson, but were polite and helpful in the recovery.

We want to thank Garret who did a great job in this offroad recovery in Georgia.
